About Kian

Kian has successfully managed projects in Australia and Internationally. After leaving the Australian Army in 2008, Kian moved to the UK where he worked as a Section Engineer and Manager in the UK on large scale infrastructure projects including the 1600MW Staythorpe Power Station.

Returning to Australia in 2011 Kian worked as a client side project manager before moving into remote construction on the contractors side. Kian found success building remote mining camps in Western Australia before project managing the construction of Australian Government infrastructure on Nauru. In 2018, Kian led the transition of the Nauru Garrison Contract from the incumbent to Canstruct International.

Kian has shown ability to solve problems and achieve project objectives through the effective management of the team.  As a process driven and dedicated worker, Kian has also been involved in the support of international aid and community aid programs. Kian’s military experience allows him to effectively lead and manage complex teams in remote locations.

  • TE2 DBS VIllage - Newmont - Tanami Desert - Project Manager - Supply and Installation of a 300 person camp with facilities and supporting infrastructure

  • Nauru Garrison and Welfare Contract - COO - Canstruct International - Management of services provided to the Australian Government on Nauru including client reporting and management

  • Nauru Infrastrucutre Project - Project Manager - Canstruct - Managing Contractor for the establishment of Stage 3 works including settlement infrastrucutre

  • Nauru Infrastrucutre Project - Project Manager - OTOC - Project Manager and Engineer for 3 x RPCs, Staff Village, School, Hospital Upgrade, COmmunity Centre, Water Treatment Plant and supporting Infrastrucutre

  • West Angeles Camp expansion - Project Manager - OTOC - 2 x Camp expansions with recreation facilities and new kitchen

  • Staythorpe Power Station - Section Engineer - Laing O’Rourke (UK)

  • Aceh Emergency Response - Troop Commander - Australian Army

Responsibilities

Kian is responsible for the overall management of HTS and individual projects. Kian is also the holder of the HTS builders license and responsible for design and engineering.

His experience in managing large scale projects and companies helps guide HTS to identify and maintain its mission and core values. On site, Kian is the primary contact for all client communications and management of the key project parameters, scope, safety, budget, schedule and quality.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Be the building subject matter expert and registered builder;

  • Manage and oversee all buildings and construction works to ensure the highest of quality and that building works comply with AS/NZ;

  • Schedule works, manage and update project schedules;

  • Tendering and estimation;

  • Procurement of building materials;

  • Oversee scope, engineering and approvals;

  • Support Site Management with application of project specific management plans, HSE management plans and QA;

  • Record, manage and document all changes of design and ensure engineering sign-off; and

  • Completion of all QA site inspections with client representatives and management of quality documentations ITP’s (Inspection Test Plans) and check sheets.
