This package focuses on the installation of electrical systems, instrumentation, and communication networks to support the increased production capacity and operational efficiency of the expanded mining operations.
Facility Description
The Surface Electrical, Instrument, and Communications (EIC) Works at the Tanami Expansion 2 (TE2) project site are integral to upgrading and expanding the site's infrastructure. This package focuses on the installation of electrical systems, instrumentation, and communication networks to support the increased production capacity and operational efficiency of the expanded mining operations.
Works Completed
HTS Constructions undertook the following EIC works as part of the TE2 project:
- Project Management
- Developed and implemented a comprehensive project management plan, ensuring coordination between all phases of the project.
- Liaised with Newmont’s management team to ensure alignment with project objectives and timelines.
- Service Corridors
- Installed remaining buried conduits, pits, and cables (11kV, LV, instrument, and fibre cables).
- Installed above-ground cable supports and cables.
- Conducted cable splicing, glanding, testing, and terminating.
- Isolated and re-routed existing village feeder cables to new switchboards.
- Major Electrical Equipment Installation
- Installed and re-assembled major electrical rooms and equipment, including:
- Main DBS Switchroom
- Main DBS 11kV Transformer
- Kiosk Substations
- 11kV RMU
- Ensured precise alignment and secure installation of all equipment.
- General Electrical Installation
- Installed brackets, poles, and lighting, including 20m and 35m lighting poles.
- Installed distribution boards, lighting power supplies, junction boxes, remote I/O panels, and control stations.
- Supplied and installed earthing and lightning protection systems, including drilling and backfilling earth stakes with ground-enhancing material.
- Installed, calibrated, and tested instruments.
- Supplied and installed minor electrical equipment and associated cables.
- Support to Commissioning
- Provided tools, equipment, and personnel to support the commissioning of installed equipment.
- Assisted with the power-up and initial testing phases.
- Quality Assurance
- Approved Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Inspection and Test Records (ITRs) prior to commencing works.
- Used Hexagon Smart Completions for QAQC and structural certifications.
- Conducted thorough testing and inspection to ensure compliance with technical specifications and Australian Standards.
