Facility Description: The Tanami Expansion 2 (TE2) project includes significant upgrades to the electrical and instrumentation (E&I) systems at the Granites Process Plant, located in the remote Tanami Desert of the Northern Territory, Australia. This expansion is crucial for enhancing the mining and processing capabilities of Newmont Tanami Operations. The project focuses on modernising and expanding the existing infrastructure to support increased ore treatment rates, ultimately boosting production efficiency and capacity at the Granites and Dead Bullock Soak sites.
Works Completed: HTS Constructions executed the following E&I installation works as part of the TE2 project:
Project Management: Ensured comprehensive project planning, scheduling, and coordination with Newmont’s management team for efficient execution of works.
Electrical and Instrumentation Installation:
Supplied, installed, terminated, and tested power, control, instrument, communication, and earthing cables.
Upgraded existing electrical infrastructure, including the installation of Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) and Motor Control Center (MCC) modules.
Installed new electrical equipment, lighting systems, and instrumentation piping systems.
Site Preparation and Safety:
Implemented rigorous safety protocols, including barricading, signage, and coordination with plant operations to minimise disruptions.
Conducted pre-mobilisation training and inductions for personnel, ensuring compliance with Newmont’s safety and operational standards.
Commissioning and Testing:
Conducted comprehensive testing and commissioning of all installed systems to ensure operational readiness and compliance with technical specifications and Australian Standards.
Interfaced and connected new installations with the existing plant infrastructure during planned shutdowns to ensure seamless integration.
Quality Assurance:
Maintained detailed documentation and adherence to quality management systems throughout the project lifecycle.
Ensured all installations met the highest standards of workmanship and were in compliance with project specifications and industry regulations.
